Last year when I did What Designers Really Want For Christmas in 2009?, a lot of nice folks from the design community pitched in with their wishlists. This year, everyone seemed to be busier. Hence I have fewer people sharing their wishlists and rare stuff that has caught their fancy. I find that picking another designer’s brain on what he or she thinks might make a fabulous gift for Christmas is a nice way to discover fancier gadgets, classic display pieces fro your studio or that amazing present that will forever mark you as the person who bought that quirky gift to an office party. I wanted a Nano this year and I know for a fact that I am getting a cute little blue iPod Nano that will be perfect for my solo train journeys, my jog around the park, my endless dishwashing escapades and my torture sessions at the gym. Read on to see what some awesome designers out there are craving this Christmas!

I’ve been eying-up this two metre wide canvas showing a map of the world. Might get it for my office wall. These light bulbs are also on my office hit-list.
Jacob Cass – Just Creative Design | @jacobcass
I actually just got this new shirt (hasn’t arrived just yet) but I found it cool.
Nick La – Web Designer Wall | @nickla
I would say iPhone or iPad.
Chris Spooner – Spoon Graphics | @chrisspooner
In last year’s ‘What designers really want for Christmas’ list I wrote about wanting to apply for a motorcycle license – I still haven’t got round to do so but it’s still near the top of my list. This year I’d love for Santa to treat me to a gift that would last the whole year, and that’s tickets to a bunch of design conferences. There’s some big events around the world, it would be awesome to make the trips and meet lots of fab people.
Louis Gubitosi – iBlend | @iblend
I’m looking forward to getting Apple TV.
Jeff Finley | @jeff_finley
Of course I want the latest iPod or Macbook or whatever, but here are some more unqiue things:
- At least a 10×10 sheet of linoleum to practicing bboying in my basement
- A surround sound system for my bedroom so I can listen to relaxing nature sounds at bedtime in the most realistic way possible
- I’ve been wanting but never purchased the Mike Leigh box set of films – there are 3 volumes. And the 7up Series box set.
- A wireless shower speaker with iPod dock
- This book Portable Grindhouse – the lost art of the VHS Box
- This Roc N Soc Drum Throne
- A pass to SXSW this year

I would really like to get into photography more so a Canon EOS 550D DSLR is high on my wishlist. Apart from that a new 17" MacBook Pro will do just fine. I am planning to relocate to London next year and do quite a bit of overseas travel, so I need to upgrade my mobile hardware. And yes, I know I am being greedy!
Jeff Fisher – Logomotives | @logomotives
The Lego Architecture Landmark Series – especially the Space Needle and a book, The Poster Art of David Lance Goines: A 40-Year Retrospective.
Martin LeBlanc – Iconfinder | @iconfinder
On top of my list are these geeky pillows. Also the new book by Kevin Kelly, ‘What technology wants‘. It’s kind of like the movie ‘What women want’ but for technology.
What Do You Want For Christmas?
I hope you enjoyed this little wishlist. Why don’t you tell us what you want for Christmas this year and what are you buying for the designer/geek in your life?
You might also find these lists very interesting if you are still looking for presents.
